The past few weeks have been the toughest weeks for every single South African, including myself. To say it has been difficult to wake up and stay motivated is an understatement, however, I understand that this is not the end and we will get through this together (in our separate homes) as a nation. The more articles I read the more I realize my privilege and how blessed I am which is why I have found it important during this time to remind myself as often as I can of what I am grateful for to help me stay motivated – it is the simple things: food that is in abundance, a safe environment to quarantine in , family to keep me company and support me during this time and friends who I can speak to.
I have also found it important to stay positive during this time because feeding my body with negativity only makes the anxiety and stress peak even further. I stay positive during this time by staying faithful to God – this has been so good for me and my soul, cooking and baking have kept my brain ticking (finding recipes to learn and perfect is difficult okay – but I have one of my fav below) and exercising really keeps me productive (we still want those summer bodies). Keeping all that in mind, I am listening to body and sometimes I sleep in or watch movies all day. Like I said earlier on, this is a tough time and one no one can really advise anyone therefore we need to listen to ourselves and allow ourselves to take it all in and embrace the new reality we face.
